The trials and tribulations of Gianna

The rash--if you look closely you can see all the red dots.

On Tuesday we received a phone call from the daycare. Gianna had 102 degree fever and was acting kind of cranky. So, that night we visited the urgent care center. Everyone there was very nice and said Gianna looked just like a little china doll. I don't think she liked them, though, after they took her temperature... She still had a high fever and when the doctor looked in her ears, she determined Gianna had an ear infection. So, we got a prescription for antibiotics and took her home. The next day Great-grandma came over to watch her until I cam home that afternoon. She was still cranky and very sleepy. I stayed home from work the next day and Gianna slept a lot (5 hours!). I guess she was still feeling bad. On Friday, I noticed what looked like a rash on her torso and face. We didn't think it was that bad, so we took her to daycare anyway. That night when Matt picked her up her rash looked AWFUL!! And she had a little accident when he was giving her a bath. Long story short, we took her back to the urgent care center. The medical director of the clinic examined her and said she had a double-ear infection and possibly a drug rash. He decided to switch her antibiotic and to help her get better, he ordered an injection of antibiotic. That did not go over well. The plus side was that Matt and I got to wait in a room with recliners and satellite TV for 15 minutes to make sure Gianna did not have a reaction to the injection. Finally, we got her home and into bed. She still looks pretty bad, as far as the rash goes, but hopefully we are on our way to recovery!

Eating outside with Elephante

Gianna loves being outside and watching traffic. She is still in a pretty good mood even with her awful rash and double-ear infection.

Hot Houston

I find it hard to believe someone can sleep in this position.

Daddy and Gianna on the hamock.

A day in the country

First taste of McDonald's pancakes. It looks like they were a hit!

Curly's new pal.

We think Gianna is saying "dog" now. It comes out like "dah", but I think she is talking about the dogs. She called Curly a "dah" yesterday. We explained that the big dog is a horse.

Curly getting a pedicure. Troy better hope Curly doesn't step on his toes!

Matt's new ride.

Peek-a-boo

Bigger than she used to be...

Sleeping on Daddy.

A fascinating bench.

Grandma's house

Grandma has a pool at her house. We thought Gianna would like to go swimming, but either she was too scared or it was too cold. She did look cute in her swimsuit, though. She is with her new best friend, Elephante.

Cute as can be in her tennis dress. Thanks, Great Aunt Laura and Uncle Dale!

First Mother's Day

This was my mother's day present from Gianna. The photo is from when she was 4 weeks old...daddy helped by paying!

This is the look I sometimes get now when I take too many photos.

Gianna and mommy. Note the necklace.

Wrapped around her finger...

Gianna looks oddly triumphant in this photo. I wonder if she knows her powers... I think she felt a little poetic this morning when she was deciding on her outfit. All she's missing is the beret.

Today in Houston

Gianna discovered sweet potato french fries today. She tried to share (sort of). I know, not the healthiest meal, but better than regular fries.

We went to a new park in Houston today. It is 12 acres with lots of kid-friendly areas. If Gianna could walk, we would've been set. There is a really cool fountain area where kids can run around. Instead, we hung out on the grass. Gianna spent her time trying to eat leaves, playing with my old sunglasses, and chasing dogs.

Gianna's hair is getting very long...

Gianna and daddy this morning before school. Look at the fake smiles on both of them.

Look at me, I can stand by myself!

But only for a few seconds.

Gianna after school eating a graham cracker. I think she looks like a little doll. If you will notice, she is wearing the same clothing as this morning. That means it was a good day (for Gianna and for mommy...no diaper explosions!).

Not the best photo, but I wanted to get the essence of her crazy hair.
